Vieste is on the east tip of Gargano, called “Sperone italiano” that means “the Italian spur”; Lat. 41.53’-Long.3.44’: monte Mario meridian nautical document n°32 , nautical plan n° 199, IGM paper sheet n° 157. Vieste prominent geographic position made its history: many of the historical characters as Federico II di Svevia, Alfonso d’Aragona, San Celestino V and many more passed across Vieste. During XV and XVIII century, Vieste was subjected to several Turkish invasions. In the heart of the old burg the rock “chianca amara” remember many Vieste citizens sacrificed by the Turkish pirate Dragut-Rais during the city sack of 1554.

Coming from the north, exit at Poggio Imperiale and follow Gargano, Vieste.
Coming from the south: exit at Cerignola Est and follow Manfredonia so to Vieste. Another way could be the exit at Foggia and follow Gargano indications.
By FS: reach Foggia station and take in front of the station a bus to Vieste.
By Gargano railway: San Severo station, last stop at Calenelle and there take a bus to Vieste.
